(1/7) I recently bought a new headlight for my bike with the intention of nigtime riding. However, I do not have enough room on my handlebars to mount the light with the included strap mechanism.
(2/7) However, I use a phone mount that shares similarities with the standard head unit (cycling computer) mounts, and thus has threaded inserts for an undermounted accessory. I decided to devise and manufacture a mount that would allow me to mount the light here.
(3/7) The light, though it can be removed from its mounting strap, does not have any inculded or otherwise availible mounting hardware.
(4/7) Additionally, the light is large and needs to be held far out from the mount in order to avoild interference with the cable routing under the handlebars.
(5/7) I utilized my solidworks liscense and the dimensions of other similar mounts to decise my own upper and lower portions of the mounting mechanism. This design will allow me to change the angle of the light and also theoretically allow me to attach other accessories to this mechanism.
(6/7) A render of the two-part mount and a dummy of the flashlight.
(7/7) As of 01/25/20, I have just completed the first 3D printed prototype for this item. Sadly, my design has some tolerancing problems when it is 3D printed, and the fits between the parts are too tight. I will be adjusting the print settings and printing a v1.1 later this week.
